You Decide to Book a Private Chef in Phuket — What Happens Next?

So, you’ve booked a villa in Phuket, flights are sorted, and the group chat is already talking about food.

At some point someone says, "Should we just get a private chef for a couple of nights?”

And that’s usually how it starts.

Most people don’t really know what to expect — they just know they don’t want to spend the whole trip organising taxis, waiting for tables, or eating average food when they’ve got a perfectly good villa.

Here’s how it actually works.

First thing — it’s not as formal as you think

A lot of people imagine it’s going to be:

  • super formal

  • restaurant-style service

  • a bit stiff

It’s not like that.

Most of the time, it’s way more relaxed.

You’re in your own space, no rushing, no noise, no waiting around. You eat when you want, how you want.

Some groups want a proper sit-down dinner; others just want good food coming out while everyone’s by the pool. Both work.

Planning is simple

Usually I’ll ask a few things upfront:

  • How many people

  • Dates

  • Any dietary requirements

  • What kind of food you’re into

That’s it.

From there I’ll suggest a rough plan — whether that’s:

  • a couple of dinners

  • daily breakfasts

  • or full multi-day service

You don’t need to have it all figured out from the start.

What a typical booking looks like

For most villa stays, it ends up being something like:

  • Arrival dinner (everyone’s tired, no one wants to go out)

  • Breakfasts on a few mornings

  • Maybe a BBQ one night

  • One slightly more structured dinner

Then the rest of the time you can still go out if you want.

It’s flexible — nothing locked in unless you want it to be.

The biggest difference is convenience

This is the part people don’t realise until they do it.

Not having to:

  • book restaurants

  • organise transport

  • wait around

  • deal with busy places

makes a massive difference to the trip.

You wake up, eat when you want, and everything just happens in the background.

Kitchens in villas are usually fine

People always ask this.

Most villas are set up well enough to work in, and if anything’s missing, I just work around it or bring what’s needed depending on the menu.

It’s never really an issue.

Food-wise, it’s completely up to you

There’s no fixed menu.

Some groups want:

  • sharing-style food

  • BBQ

  • simple meals done well

Others want something a bit more structured.

I just build it around what you’re into.

It ends up being one of the best parts of the trip

Honestly, most people who book it say the same thing after:

They wish they’d done it for more days.

Not because it’s fancy — just because it makes everything easier and more enjoyable.

If you’re thinking about it

If you’ve got a villa booked in Phuket and you’re on the fence about getting a chef, it’s usually worth doing at least a couple of days.

You don’t need to go all in — even just sorting your arrival night and one proper dinner takes a lot of pressure off.

If you want to chat through options, just send over your dates and group size and I’ll let you know what works.
