If you’re in Chiang Mai and thinking about booking a private chef, it’s usually for something simple — a dinner with friends, a birthday, or just wanting a good meal without going out.

A lot of people haven’t done it before though, so they’re not quite sure how it works.

It’s actually pretty straightforward.

It’s more relaxed than people expect

The first thing to know is it’s not a formal restaurant setup.

There’s no pressure, no strict timings, and no waiting around.

You’re in your own space — whether that’s a house, villa, or apartment — and everything just runs around you.

Some groups want a sit-down dinner; others prefer more of a sharing style or even a BBQ. Both work just as well.

Planning is quick and simple

Usually I just need a few basics:

  • How many people

  • The date

  • Any dietary requirements

  • Rough idea of what you’re after

From there I’ll put together a menu that fits your group.

You don’t need to overthink it.

What a typical dinner looks like

Most Chiang Mai bookings are:

  • Small groups (2–10 people)

  • One evening

  • Relaxed setup

That could be:

  • A proper sit-down dinner

  • A more casual shared meal

  • A BBQ outside if you’ve got the space

Everything is cooked fresh on-site, served, and then cleaned down afterwards.

BBQs work really well here

One thing that’s especially popular in Chiang Mai is BBQ-style evenings.

They’re easy, relaxed, and good for groups.

You don’t need anything fancy — just a bit of outdoor space and we can build something around it.

The main benefit is just making things easy

This is what most people end up liking the most.

No:

  • booking restaurants

  • travelling across town

  • waiting for tables

You stay where you are, eat when you want, and everything’s taken care of.

Kitchens and setup

Most places in Chiang Mai have enough to work with.

If anything’s missing, I just adapt or bring what’s needed depending on the menu.

It’s never really a problem.

Food is completely flexible

There’s no fixed menu.

Some people want something simple done well; others want a bit more structure.

I just build it around what you’re into.

It’s a good option even for a normal night

It doesn’t have to be a big event.

A lot of bookings are just:

  • friends getting together

  • couples

  • small groups

Just wanting a better experience than going out.

If you’re thinking about booking

If you’re in Chiang Mai and planning a dinner, BBQ, or small event, it’s a pretty easy way to upgrade the evening without overcomplicating it.

Send over your date, group size, and what you’ve got in mind, and I’ll come back with a plan.
